PRELAUNCHING/INSTALLATION ------------------------- Download the appliance. Unzip the archive. Launch the appliance. REQUIREMENTS ------------ No PXE server in use within your network. A free IP address in your network. A spare workstation to act as a client node. LAUNCHING - CONFIGURATION ------------------------- The Linux boot process will now start. 1/ A few seconds later you will be taken to a screen showing 'ComputeMode Grid Manager Appliance: Quick Setup'. *To do*: hit 'Enter' to continue 2/ The keyboard layout selection screen is shown. Currently only French and US keyboards - this will be alterable after boot *To do*: using the arrows, select the item matching your input keyboard, then hit 'Enter' 3/ The network configuration form is shown. *To do: enter a few network parameter in the 'Network configuration' form. Keys: - arrows to navigate between fields - 'Tab' to change selected component (button, edit fields) - once completed, select the 'Submit' button and hit enter, it will take you to a summary screen (see step 4) Parameters: - LAN IP: the address you will use to access the CM appliance (ex: 1.2.3.4) - LAN NETMASK: your network netmask (ex: 255.255.255.0) - LAN GATEWAY: your routeur address (ex: 1.2.3.254) - LAN DNS IP: your DNS server IP (ex: 1.2.3.42) 4/ A network configuration summary screen will be shown: - Private hostname: is the name of the server in the DNS handled by the server - Private domain: is the DNS domain name handled by the server - LAN IP, netmask, gateway and DNS IP: are the parameters you entered in the previous screen *To do: if the configuration suits you, hit 'Yes', else hit 'Cancel' 5/ A screen will be shown asking you if want to answer those questions again at the next boot. *To do*: select 'Yes' or 'No' button (see below) then hit 'Enter' 'Yes' button: If you plan on changing the appliance network configuration, choose 'Yes' then hit 'Enter' - you will have to go through this configuration set up again at the next boot. Use this option if you are testing the appliance for the first time. 'No' button: If you are satisfied with the appliance network configuration, choose 'No' then hit 'Enter' - this configuration phase will be skipped at the next reboot. 6/ A reminder screen is shown telling which UNIX account and password use. *To do*: hit 'Enter' EFFECT ------ Note: if your DNS setup is incorrect, some services (local mail through exim) may timeout - that's not a problem The network configuration will now proceed and you will be taken to graphical login screen. LAUNCHING - USE --------------- You are now on the main screen: - the manual is linked on the top left part - the admin parts are on the lower right Choose 'Webadmin' - the default account is: - web account: admin - password: icatis Now you need to add some computing power: - boot a computer in PXE mode - it will appear automatically in the nodes list - click on the hostname found and choose 'Always ComputeMode' schedule - reboot the computer you want to use - it should now boot and join the cluster as a diskless node.
